Saudades Shawl

Hi everyone!

It's been a little while since I last posted here, sorry! But my needles have been very busy and I have lots of new designs to show you!

Just fresh out of the oven is the Saudades Shawl, a collaboration with Miss Babs Yarns and calls for only one skein of their delicious Big Silk base. It is a worsted weight crescent shaped shawl, worked in a squishy garter stitch body and with a cabled edge worked sideways. Because of the yarn weight it calls for, this piece grows very fast making it perfect for gift knitting or an (almost) immediate ‘finished object’ satisfaction.

Saudade is a Portuguese word that has no known translation to any other language. It is used to describe a mix of happy and sad feelings of melancholy and nostalgia when one is longing for someone or something they love.

One can feel ‘saudades’ for loved ones that went away, for places they have been to or even for experiences and times that have passed - such as Grandma’s Sunday lunch or when the kids were little and liked to play ball on the front yard. Saudades is the sadness that comes from knowing that that moment or person is gone and is also the happiness to have lived and experienced it, and now have beautiful memories of it. It is also referred to as “the love that remains”. The pattern includes instructions both written and charted for the cable border for your convenience.

And we have a super discount to celebrate the release of this shawl! Get the pattern for only 1USD using the coupon code SAUDADES1 at checkout on Ravelry until Nov 15th midnight EST.
