Paquetá Shawl

Hi everyone! I am very happy to share with you all that the PAQUETÁ SHAWL is now live !! This is my second time collaborating with Miss Babs Yarns and I used their delicious Woodbury base in two colorways: Goldenrod (yellow) and Do Campo (variagated).

This shawl was inspired in a island in Rio de Janeiro called Paquetá, a small frozen-in-time-oasis only reachable by ferry with a colonial architecture that makes a beautiful contrast with the colorful nature of the place and, since all types of motor vehicles are not allowed on the island people move around on horses, wagons and bikes creating a fantastic bucolic atmosphere.

Worked top-down, the Paquetá shawl has a half-circle shape, divided in 3 sections consisting of: a squishy garter stitch body with eyelets, stripes combined with an airy lace stitch pattern, and the last section is a slightly ruffled, wavy edge.

YARDAGE Approx. total of 700 yds of fingering weight yarn (sample features Miss Babs Woodbury 65% merino, 35% silk) Color A 385 yds - Do Campo Color B 315 yds - Goldenrod Since color A is used almost to the full, it is recommended to swatch using color B

NEEDLES 3.75 mm (US 5) circular needle with cable long enough to accommodate all stitches comfortably, or size needed to obtain gauge

NOTIONS & TOOLS -blocking tools of your preference -row counter (recommended) -scissors -stitch markers -tapestry needle

GAUGE 12 sts x 24 rows in 10cm x 10cm (4”x4”) in garter stitch after blocking. Though gauge is not crucial for this project, changes in it will affect your yardage requirements.

SIZE Approximately 140 cm (55 in) length and 55 cm (22 in) width

I hope you like it!
